Here in Rice Lake, the hungry have been fed since the early 1990s. When Esther Mercier saw a man taking food out of a dumpster, she knew something had to be done. Thus began a mission of feeding the hungry.
Today, when you walk into the St. Vincent de Paul dining room at Paul’s Pantry, you will find a warm, welcoming atmosphere. There is no paperwork to fill out. If you’re hungry, just come in and our volunteers will serve you lunch.
Lunch is served on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from noon until 1:00. Most meals consist of meat, potatoes, vegetables,
salad, bread, dessert and a choice of beverages. On Thursdays, a
lighter meal is served.
These meals are served to help a variety of needs:
They help stretch food dollars
May provide the only home cooked meal of the day
May be the only hot meal of the day
Just as important as the meal itself, the dining room is a place for people to gather and visit.
